March 28, 2011. DJ Megatron, otherwise known as Corey McGriff, has been shot and killed. Megatron is one of the hosts of the BET countdown series, 106 & Park.
According to reports, Megatron was shot dead near his home in Staten Island, New York around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. He was shot in the chest, and he was pronounced dead once paramedics arrived on scene. He had worked with BET and 106 & Park since 2006.
BET released the following statement: "The BET Networks Family is saddened by the news of the untimely loss of our friend and colleague, Corey 'Megatron' McGriff. We extend our deepest condolence to his family. He will truly be missed."
According to his family, he is survived by three children, the youngest being a 9-month-old son.
